Something new?

I haven't been keeping up with this blog, I know. But I thought I would come back to update on something new I will be working on: pigmented and sheer lip glosses. When I get paid from my day job a week from this Thursday, I will be purchasing the ingredients and begin experimenting. It took me awhile to make the decision on whether I should do other products, because I know it takes some time (and money) especially during the experimental phase. I have done quite a bit of research, though, and I feel pretty confident in this endeavor. I can't wait!

I will still be working on eyeshadows though, of course. I went through a demotivated period for a few weeks, but I am finally back in the creative groove again. Here are a few of my latest "creations":

I am going to be getting to work on at least two more tonight. Sometimes when I sit down at my desk, I know exactly what I'm going for, but tonight I think I am just going to let the micas and iron oxides talk to me. I'll try to post pictures of what I come up with tonight as well!

Just a little update...

I know it's been awhile now, but my job is killing me with work overload and I haven't really had any energy lately. We have inventory a week from today. :(

Anyway! I have 35 eyeshadows listed on Etsy now! I've only had three sales so far, but I figure once I get more shades that what I already have, I'll get more. :)

Last night I wore "Soviet" and "Betsy" out when my boyfriend and I went out to eat. We wanted to eat at our favorite restaurant, Nacho Mama's, but when we got there we realized it had shut it's doors! Bad times. It was a hot and muggy New Orleans evening. We had to walk back to the streetcar (which was about 6 or 7 blocks away) and from there we decided to go to our second favorite restaurant. After we ate, we decide to go ahead and walk the rest of the way home, which was *checks Google Maps* 11 blocks from the restaurant. Whew! I was a hot, sweaty mess when I got home, but my eyeshadow was still intact! A little Urban Decay Primer Potion underneath and it lasted all night! I should have taken before and after pictures!

So yep. That's what's been going on with me lately. I'll try to post more after inventory is over! <3

Great news!

I am almost tempted not to write this post at all--I don't want any bad news to follow! LOL.

First, let me say that last week I made my first sale online!! It was to a woman in Ireland, so I even got to get a bit of experience shipping internationally. Admittedly, I may have made MAYBE $3 on the sale after costs and shipping, so I was able to adjust prices a bit to get everything in order. SO exciting!

Secondly, a friend of mine who I know through my day job (I am assistant manager at a discount store--SO glamorous ;) ) came into my job a few days ago and asked me how everything was going. I let her know about my business venture through Etsy and she was immediately interested. I gave her my Etsy shop address and she later contacted me, saying she knew the owner of a consignment shop on the main street close to my job. She let me know she would show the woman my shop address and see if she was interested in letting me consign some items in her shop. She liked what she saw apparently, so now I am waiting on an email from her letting me know when I will be able to meet up with her to discuss business.

Maybe this was a good decision on my part. Do I want to get rich from this? No. However, I would like to make enough where I know I can go on a vacation at least once per year and not have to worry about bills all while doing something I truly love. I didn't always have a love for makeup--it just kind of found me.

Here's to beautiful beginnings, folks. :)

My Birchbox didn't come in today. :( I thought for sure it would, since the USPS tracking site said it had arrived in New Orleans on the 8th. Oh well. There's always Monday, right?

After today, I'm not ordering anything anymore this month, I promise!! :D I just made an order with: Pretty Addictions (on Etsy), BadBitch Cosmetics (on Etsy), BFTE Cosmetics, and then one item off of eBay (some earrings). I know. At least with the makeup purchases, it was only samples that I ordered.

You know what that means! Next week, I am going to be very busy swatching and photographing my mini-hauls.

That's it for tonight! Just had to do a little mini-update so y'all know what to expect in the coming week or so. I really can't wait for the new Fyrinnae items, especially the Lip Lustres, to come in!

Until then...

Yesterday was a busy day for online shopping for me!

I did it, y'all. I took the plunge and ordered subscriptions for like 4 different beauty box programs: Birchbox (which I've been having for some time now), Beauty Army (yessss!), Julep Maven, and MyGlam. Actually, yesterday I received an email from Julep to purchase a June Mystery Box ($19.99 for $60-200 worth of product) so of course I did that. Also, for the first time in forever, I paid for subscriptions to Vogue, Allure, Glamour and Self magazines. I know, right? I love getting things in the mail so much, and you can't beat those deals. :)

I also ordered from Fyrinnae last night, since they came out with five new shades! I really love them. I am working on collecting every eyeshadow color they have. And for the first time, I actually ordered quite a few Lip Lustre samples, 11 of them to be exact. I just found out from another blog that even though they are samples, they actually come in a miniature version of the full-size! Of course I'll have pictures and swatches to come!! <3

What else? Oh yeah, Etsy. I love trying out new companies, but the one thing I hate (but can understand why) about ordering samples is I hate those baggies! Since I have this company though, I have my own sample jars, so it's easy for me to just transfer the contents of the baggies into them! Of the two companies I purchased from, one was Mineral Love and the other was Rose Marie Shadows. I ordered 5 samples of each, so I will of course have pictures and swatches once they come in!

Oh my goodness! How could I forget?! I bought the Sleek Acid palette on eBay from England yesterday as well!! It was only $15.70 shipped. :) I am seriously planning on collecting all (or most) Sleek eyeshadow palettes. We have three pay periods next month, so I will definitely be ordering quite a bit from their website, since shipping is a whopping $13 flat rate! In all, it may set me back $70-80, but it's so worth it! <3

So that's it! I'll be posting pictures of my hauls as they arrive. I know I'll be back later today because my Birchbox will be arriving today!

Time to get dressed and ready for work!!
